PREPARATION PATHWAY
Grades 8th, 9th, 10th
This is where the journey begins! CORE Academy places students in traditional, high-rigor high school courses, with an emphasis on preparing students for their accelerated academic journey.
CORE Academy students have the opportunity to take pre-college classes that prepare them to earn college credit. The high school staff provides wraparound support to smoothly transition students into the other Micro-Academies.

CORE Academy Placement Requirements
Knowledge Assessment Preparation
- Students must establish Dual Enroll and Ivy Tech accounts.
- Students must attempt the Knowledge Assessment a minimum of one time per semester until a passing score is achieved.
Academically On Track
- No more than two credits below grade level OR actively participating in remediation or credit recovery opportunities.
Coursework
- Students will be enrolled in credit-bearing high school courses for 90% of their schedule.
- In addition to high school coursework, students will also be required to take the following Ivy Tech courses:
- Preparing for College Careers
- Career Exploration (dual credit)
Attendance - In good standing with the policies specified in the Student and Family Handbook. Generally, at 90% attendance rate or higher.)
Behavior – In good standing with the policies specified in the Student and Family Handbook.
